The Millennium 4 – Provision and Practice

This is the fourth part of a five-part series on what the Bible has to say about the Millennium. In this presentation, Geoff initially considers the state of the world, particularly at the beginning of the Millennium. Prior to the return of Jesus, catastrophic events will have taken place. During the Millennium, Jesus will reign with a “rod of iron” in the midst of his enemies. Furthermore, there will be both mortal and immortal human beings. The immortals are those who have been raised during the first resurrection described in Revelation chapter 20. The mortals are those who have survived the catastrophic events leading up to the final battle. The mortals continue to live, die, and have children during the Millennial period of 1000 years. This is the context and allows us to consider the issue of ongoing sacrifice and offering during this period which seems to be the consistent message of scripture. We consider all that Jesus has accomplished for us, namely, the forgiveness of sins, eternal redemption, and the opportunity to have a clean heart and a renewed spirit. According to scripture, however, righteous sacrifices will continue to be given but these involve the cleansing of things (e.g. ceremonially clean vessels), even the Temple itself. Finally, Geoff considers the cleansing required following childbirth and sickness. We look at an ancient Mikvah and consider the baptism of Jesus in this context.
