Jesus Christ is the most famous Jew of all time, but is today remembered as a Christian. Surprisingly, the Jewish community has accepted this distortion of history, and tends to regard Jesus as an apostate. When people return to their home country or city after a long absence, they are often asked “Where are you from?” Jesus also asked that question at a time when many were trying to get in Heaven’s door. “…Lord, open for us, but He will answer to say to you, ‘I do not know you, or where you are from”. (Luke 13:25) Many may well be shocked.
One good look at the headlines each week, and every believer should be thankful and be reminded that God is still on His throne and in control. I can tell you that when you live in Jerusalem, that reassurance is more tangible and reliable than anywhere else I have ever been.
